FIELD TRIPS & EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS
There are many children that have never been face-to-face with a real farm animal or all that nature has to offer. MM Equestrian Farm provides the opportunity to connect with our agricultural roots and cultivate the spirit of giving. Located in North Miami's Enchanted Forest Elaine Gordon Park, students of all ages will enjoy an integrative educational experience that will open their mind and warm their souls.
FIELD TRIP
Our basic field trip offers a physical interaction with and education of our noble horses and farm animals, as well as an exploration of the natural beauty and habitats of the park. Our goal is to promote a healthy lifestyle, connect children to nature and generate an appreciation for the environment. The duration of the field trip is 3 hours. A description of the activities are listed below:
Community Garden Tour - an introduction to the process of planting and harvesting various herbs and foods we consume daily. An understanding of what plants need to grow and how the sun, soil and even worms play a role.
Nature walk through the enchanted oak hammocks to the butterfly garden. Children will spot different butterflies and learn about the plants that attract them.
A "hands-on" introduction to a variety of animals in a safe and enclosed area. The children will learn the key characteristics of each animal while physically interacting with them. Introduction to our family of horses and what makes them such amazing and therapeutic creatures. The children will learn the general characteristics and differences between miniatures, ponies and horses. They will also get the opportunity to feed and groom them.
HOMESCHOOLING WITH HORSES
At MM Equestrian Farm, we believe children need the chance to grow in a wholesome and nurturing environment. Equestrian activities provide emotional growth and have been proven to help children feel better both physically and emotionally. Working with horses builds self confidence and social skills and promotes exploration of behaviors. Horses help children to better connect with their feelings. Our farm animals welcome children of all ages and learning levels.
